GTARP:Network Official Server Rules

This topic explains the rules for IC websites, IC platforms, and Linked, the official IC social media platform of GTARP:Network.

Some platforms within GTARP:Network exist inside the roleplay world. This means they are treated as In Character and may be used by characters for communication, advertising, networking, news, business, reputation, and social interaction.

Players are expected to use these platforms realistically and responsibly.

1. What Are IC Websites?

IC websites are platforms that exist inside the roleplay world.

Examples may include:

  • Linked.
  • IC business pages.
  • IC advertisements.
  • IC event posts.
  • IC news pages.
  • IC faction or organization pages if approved.

If a platform is marked as IC, anything posted there is considered something your character has published, shared, written, or interacted with in-character.

2. Linked

Linked is the IC social media platform of GTARP:Network.

Linked may be used for:

  • Character networking.
  • Business promotion.
  • Public statements.
  • Social updates.
  • Job-related posts.
  • Event announcements.
  • IC discussions.
  • Community interaction.

Linked should be treated like a public IC platform.

If your character posts something on Linked, other characters may be able to see it, react to it, discuss it, or use it IC if it is publicly visible.

3. IC Consequences

Posts on IC websites may have IC consequences.

Examples:

  • A business post may attract customers.
  • A public insult may create conflict.
  • A confession may be used IC.
  • A threat may be investigated by law enforcement.
  • A controversial statement may affect your character’s reputation.

Players should think before posting.

IC actions can create IC consequences.

4. OOC Content Is Not Allowed On IC Platforms

IC platforms may not be used for OOC communication.

Not allowed:

  • OOC arguments.
  • Server complaints.
  • Staff complaints.
  • Bug reports.
  • Support requests.
  • Rule discussions.
  • Punishment discussions.
  • Discord drama.
  • Real-life personal issues.

Use the correct OOC platform for OOC matters.

5. Metagaming Through IC Platforms

Players may not use IC websites to metagame.

You may not post or use information your character would not realistically know.

Examples of prohibited behavior:

  • Posting information learned from Discord.
  • Posting staff or UCP information.
  • Posting information from another character.
  • Using screenshots your character never took.
  • Using OOC knowledge to expose someone IC.
  • Using Linked to coordinate with people based on OOC information.

Your character can only post what they know IC.

6. Screenshots, Images & Media

Images or screenshots posted on IC platforms must make sense IC.

Allowed:

  • Photos your character could realistically have taken.
  • Business flyers.
  • Event posters.
  • Vehicle sale photos.
  • Property advertisements.
  • Character selfies or public images.

Not allowed:

  • Screenshots showing OOC UI.
  • Screenshots of Discord.
  • Screenshots of staff panels.
  • Screenshots of reports or tickets.
  • Screenshots using information your character could not access.
  • Images used to harass or expose players OOC.

If an image contains OOC elements, it may be removed or voided.

7. Harassment & Toxicity

IC platforms may not be used to harass players OOC.

IC insults, rivalries, criticism, and public conflict may be allowed when they are clearly part of roleplay.

However, the following is prohibited:

  • OOC harassment.
  • Targeted bullying.
  • Personal attacks against players.
  • Discrimination.
  • Doxxing.
  • Threats involving real life.
  • Posting to provoke OOC drama.

Character conflict is allowed.

OOC harassment is not.

8. Criminal Use Of Linked

Criminal characters may use IC platforms carefully and realistically.

However, players should understand that public posts may create IC consequences.

Examples:

  • Public threats may be investigated.
  • Illegal advertisements may attract law enforcement attention.
  • Gang-related posts may create faction conflict.
  • Suspicious posts may be used as IC evidence if obtained properly.

Criminal roleplay is allowed, but it must remain believable.

Do not use Linked as an unrealistic criminal command center.

9. Law Enforcement & IC Evidence

Public IC posts may be used by law enforcement characters if they are obtained through proper IC means.

Examples:

  • A public Linked post.
  • A public business advertisement.
  • A public threat.
  • A public event announcement.

Private or restricted information may only be used if obtained through valid roleplay or approved systems.

Law enforcement may not use OOC access, staff tools, UCP information, or Discord information as IC evidence.

10. Impersonation

Players may not impersonate official server services, staff, or approved factions in a misleading OOC way.

IC impersonation may be allowed if it is realistic and part of roleplay, but it may still create IC consequences.

Not allowed:

  • Pretending to be staff.
  • Posting fake official server announcements.
  • Misrepresenting OOC rules or staff decisions.
  • Using Linked to deceive players OOC.

11. Business & Advertisement Posts

Business and advertisement posts should be realistic and IC.

Posts should not be used for:

  • Spam.
  • Trolling.
  • OOC advertising.
  • Advertising other communities.
  • Harassment.
  • Misleading OOC information.

Businesses should use IC platforms to create roleplay, not simply to flood feeds with repeated posts.

12. Spam & Low Effort Posting

Spam and low-effort posting may be removed.

Examples:

  • Repeated duplicate posts.
  • Meaningless posts intended to flood feeds.
  • Excessive meme posting.
  • Posts with no IC purpose.
  • Posts created only to annoy others.

IC websites should support roleplay and interaction.

13. Deleted, Edited Or Removed Posts

Deleting or editing a post does not always erase IC consequences.

If other characters saw, saved, or responded to the post IC, it may still be relevant.

However, staff may void posts that violate rules, contain OOC information, or abuse the platform.

14. Staff Removal Of Content

Staff may remove, edit, hide, or void IC website content when it:

  • Breaks server rules.
  • Contains OOC information.
  • Contains private information.
  • Creates OOC harassment.
  • Abuses the platform.
  • Damages roleplay quality.
  • Violates community standards.

Repeated misuse of IC platforms may result in punishment.

15. Final Notes

IC websites and Linked exist to create more roleplay opportunities.

They should be used to build stories, reputations, businesses, conflicts, events, and public character presence.

Remember:

  • If it is IC, treat it as IC.
  • Do not post OOC content on IC platforms.
  • Do not use OOC information IC.
  • Public posts may have IC consequences.
  • Linked is for roleplay, not drama.
  • Use common sense.
